Dear Friends,

The following meditation is an earth meditation that I have created. Feel free to adapt it to your own use. You can make your own-guided meditation by recording this on a tape and then playing it back while you are in a deep state of relaxation. Although it might be strange hearing your own voice on tape, it will allow you to fully concentrate on your visualization without having to focus on remembering the next portion of the meditation.

Do this meditation in a quiet place when you have time to completely rest and relax. You can light a green or brown candle if you wish and hold an earth associated gemstone, such as amber or granite.

Close your eyes, relax and visualize the following:

Imagine yourself anchoring yourself into the cool ground as tree roots. Expand your energy downward allowing the energy to flow from the higher chakras down through the top of your head. While doing so, expanding your roots to deep within the earth’s center. Embrace the earth’s core with these roots. Feel the love stream downward, as you are the conduit of this love towards the Earth. You are part of the Earth and the Earth is part of you.

Now expand your roots outward filling up the entire inner portion of the earth so that it becomes a filled ball of roots, a filled ball of interconnecting love that continues to flow through you. Feel the roots pulsing beneath you and through you. It now is a perfect embrace of unconditional divine love within the Earth.

Now allow the roots to slowly morph from inside to the outside into soft tender hands that gently cradle the Earth. It is a feeling of holding a newborn baby; you are a mother or father to the precious child of Earth! Feel the Love flowing through you to these cosmic hands. Hold it, cradle it, and let your love caress the Earth in warmth and tenderness.

At this point you may see the Earth with a white aura glowing around it. It is healing energy coming from you and all of the others who are connecting with the earth. Expand this glow…Allow this white glow of the aura of the Earth to gently pulse in your hands…leading into a gentle pulsing heart-beat rhythm.

Allow this beating of divine love and tenderness to infuse the energy grid, literally seeing this grid expand and contract around the earth within this glow of the aura. This grid connects all things: plants, animals, people and places. You may feel many emotions of anger, hate, resentment and fear – the feelings of so many in the world. Take those emotions and transmute them into love and continue being the conduit of light sending back 10-fold of love to every negative emotion.

Allow this love to pulse as long as you want. Visualize the center of the Earth filling with white light until it seems ready to burst. The pulsing white energy is healing the earth and its people. It radiates with pure love and removes all negatives on the planet. The white light travels up through your body and radiates throughout you. You are pulsing with the energy as well, and you feel your body, mind and soul being re-energized through the powerful white aura of the Earth. Your cells on every level receive the Earth’s energy and you are healed.

Know that the love you have directed towards the center of the Earth, outside the Earth and back in towards the Earth is a heart beat itself to heal the Earth and her people.

Love And Light,

Dear Friends,

I often do element meditations to attune myself with the powers of a specific element. These elemental mediations are helpful in getting to know the elements and refreshing your spirit. Remember, the elements are our allies and a source of magickal power. It’s important to get to know these elements and understand their qualities.

The following is a meditation of Air. Air is associated with mind, essential qualities, knowledge, abstract learning, theories, illumination, perception, analytic thought, communication and memory.

Complete the following mediation while you are in a relaxed and peaceful state. You can record the following script into a tape recorder and play it back for yourself over some nice relaxing music.

It is dawn. I find myself in a forest filled with trees. I raise my eyes and look for the sky, but the boughs looming overhead hide it from my view. As I look up, feel the cool breeze of spring brush my face, and hear the sound of the rustling leaves. Blowing, laughing from the east, Eurus brings thoughts of renewal and life. I follow the wind further into the soft shadows of the forest, inhaling deeply the strong scent of the trees. I smell, too, the wafting hints of fragrant incense. I follow where my senses lead me and come to a small clearing circled by burning censers filled with sweet-smelling oils.

Toward the east end of the circle is a staff. I walk over to the place and sit on the ground before it. I take the staff into my hands and close my eyes. First come swirling colors of white then yellow then fading darker into lavender. Then, out of the swirling fog of colors come dozens of small, lithe figures that swirl around as if carried on the wind itself. They dance around my head and body, swirling around as if caught in a dance to unheard music. Then, taking my attention from the spirits of the air, I look up to find further figures emerging from the mist.

First comes a woman with the beauty of the dawn. As she steps forward, each of the four winds, in turn, hasten from around here and fly, one to each of the four corners of the earth. As she fades, there comes another whose form seems insubstantial, and seems to constitute both the image of a woman and a cow at the same time. I look closely, as I attempt to solidify them into one form, but I cannot. As this image fades, I am presented with the forms of two women who immediately remind me of the nighttime sky. One glows with the pale light of the full moon, and her eyes hold the fullness of hidden knowledge. The other, whom also seems to radiate cool starlight, seems to embody the possibilities of many lifetimes. In due course, these figures too fade and I am left with only the mist of the elemental world of air.

Suddenly, three male figures issue from the mist. They seem to be three aspects of one man, but each of their attributes differs. The first glows with the light of the moon, seeming to be its protector. The second and third appear almost identical, except that one has a winged helmet and shoes. As I sit and study them, they begin to fade, as does the fog. When the mist clears, I find myself sitting within the circle still clutching the staff in my hands. I place the staff once again on the ground and rise. I thank the element of air, and all it is associated with for sharing with me its wisdom, and leave the circle.

Brightest Blessing,

Dear Friends,

My favorite types of spells are practical spells. Of course, I’m all for big blown out rituals with mighty purposes. But the day-to-day magick is what keeps me interested in my religion. The fact that I can say a few words and find my car keys, or will someone to call me. This is the interesting part to me. The following are a few of my favorite “practical” spells that are small yet powerful.

The lost and found spell:

You will need:

* 1 small Orange Candle
* A picture of the lost item. If you do not have a picture write the name of the object or draw a picture on a blank white piece of paper.
Take the picture and put it on your altar. Light the orange candle and place it on the upper corner of the picture. You might want to cast a circle for your own protection, and depending upon how much need there is for the lost objects.
Say, “I call upon the God and Goddess and ask for help in returning [items name] to me.”
Then say three times, “What belongs to me will return to me!”
And finally say, “So mote it be!”
Repeat until the item is returned to you, or you hear word of the item’s whereabouts.
Spell to stop rain from falling:
This is a spell to stop rain from coming to a town right before it falls. When it starts getting dark, chant this with lots of feeling:

“Gods of power, Gods of might,
I bid you now, stop this plight,
Stop the rain, we need no more,
Let it fall, nevermore.”

Put a lot of feeling in stopping rain from falling from the clouds and it will not fall, it will simply move to an area away from where you are and then fall. I use this when I need to finish my yard work before the rain falls.
Spell to stop a wound from bleeding:
I can’t tell you how often I used this one when my children were growing up. It is very effective!
Quickly clear your mind and chant the following three times:
“Rivers Shall Flow
Be Pure and crystalline
But red rivers must not
they must be trapped inside my being
This river so red
Must Be Stopped with a Golden Net
Stop now stop this bleed”
Spell to speed up time:
This is a really great one to use while waiting in line. It can be done very discreetly before you enter the store.
Draw a Pentacle on your left hand using a blessed red pen. Visualize a sand clock with swiftly falling sand as you draw.
Put your left hand on your forehead, or third eye, and say:
Sands of time show me the way,
Turn the nights into days
Rose petals so light and full of grace
Speed up time now, in this place
Cast the spell, so mote it be!
The spell will last for 24 hours or until the pentacle is erased, naturally, or washed.
And here is its counterpart, a spell to slow down time.
This time draw the Pentacle on your right hand using a blue pen. Visualize sand falling slowly and place your right hand on your forehead.
Core Go Round,
Power be bound.
Interrupt the Nature’s Core
Time Slow Down
Cast the spell, so mote it be!

The last two spells require special pens used just for magick. If you were wondering how to do that, here are simple instructions.
On a full moon, fill a glass of water with consecrated water, crushed rose petals and a pinch of salt. Add your pen, writing side up, and place the glass in a spot where the moonlight will hit it. Visualize the pen being filled with blue light, and chant the following three times:
Ink so (color) as the (comparison)
Always write with the truth.
Three times said
Three times blessed with moonlight!
Blessed be! Serve me right!
Serve only me,
So mote it be!
Leave the pen in that location until the morning. Some examples of comparisons are:
Ink so black as the night.
Ink so red as my blood.
Ink so blue as the sapphire.
I hope you have fun with these practical spells!

Dear Friends,

One of my favorite magickal tools is hanging on my dining room wall. No its not a pentacle, broomstick or athame. It’s my telephone!

Are telephones magickal? I certainly think so. Hopefully reading this message will make you see this necessary electronic device in a whole new light.

The phone focuses and directs energy, which are basic principles of magick. When you make a phone call you are sending your intent via waves of electricity. This electricity goes through copper wires, or light pulses through fiber optics. In either case, you are directing your energy exactly where you choose it to go. Think about this next time you are doing spellwork and need a boost of confidence.
You perform energy direction everyday!

Bells are magickal tools that project energy through sound, just like the ringing of a telephone. When you place a call to someone, you fill his or her home with the ringing of a bell. This is akin to sending them a blessing which you can attach your good intentions for health, wealth and happiness. You can direct energy toward them with your ring.

Answering machines are magick as well. Many spells involve charging times and storing energy within it to accomplish a certain purpose. When we leave a message for a friend or loved one, we are charging the answering machine with our wishes. It can store the magickal energy that we send in the form of a message. Callers create a charm of sorts when they leave a message. They charge a physical and tangible item in your home with a bit of their energy.
And then when you play the message, the energy is released.

Color magick can be worked with your choice of phone colors. Phones come in many colors. Pick a color that speaks to you and serves your home. White is a good all around phone color. Picking a green phone for a business line is a great option. Red phones can help attract suitors. The choices are endless.

Some people use cords in magick and store up energy in the knots and tangles.
If you have an older phone in your home, you can use its cord in this fashion.
Instead of viewing the tangles as annoyances, see them as a reflection of your daily life. Little by little and day by day the cord slowly took its shape due to your influence. You can perform a simple ritual of untangling these cords and feel your tensions and emotional knots flow away. You can also wrap the cord around an object you used in a spell. If you are waiting for a call on a new house, wrap the cord around a green candle or appropriate stone.

Phone wires are made of copper and the circuitry is made of tiny silicon chips. Both are natural objects coming from the earth. The purposes for each can be found on correspondence charts. Once you look them up, act accordingly to their purposes when you use the phone.

Numbers hold magick as well. Your phone number, and the numbers of others are unique and hold an energy all their own. Your phone number can be used as a means of divination. If you are doing a spell involving another person, you can use their phone number.

The phone network is a reflection of the Pagan understanding that we are all connected. In the phone network, that is the literal case. There is a physical link connecting you to others through your phone wire. When you hold your phone in your hand, you are connecting with your neighbors, your friends and the world. The copper wires that exist between your phone and all the others connect you to everything.

Are you beginning to see the phone in a new light? Apply this thinking to the rest of your household items. I’m sure you’ll be surprised by just how much magick you have in your home.

Brightest Blessing,

Rose Ariadne, Your Warm And Caring “Resident Witch In Charge”

Dear Friends,

My love of magickal gardening reached new heights when I made a special Moon garden of flowers that bloom under the radiant Lady’s heavenly glow. There is nothing more breathtaking than looking up at the Moon and looking down at the flora honoring her in her glory. A symphony of beautiful blooms stands at her attention. Magickal gardens, including Moon Gardens, bring Mother Earth alive. A Moon Garden consists of flowers that bloom at night. They are mostly white, but can come in other pale shades. To start a Moon Garden, check with a gardening book about the hardiness zone you live in. Some of the following plants may not work in your area, but there are plenty that will.

Following is a list of my favorite Moon Garden residents. Some do not bloom at night, but add wonderful elements to the garden nonetheless. Giant Moonflower- a fast growing vine related to the morning glory, this annual may climb to 10 feet. Tightly closed by day, its white flowers open at dusk to release a sweet fragrance. Flowers can be seen very clearly in moonlight.

Pink Evening Primrose- a lovely border plant growing to 12″ with silky, rose colored blooms that deepen to a butter-yellow center. Opens in late evening to release soft fragrance.

Jasmine Tobacco- a very sweet scented flowering tobacco with pure white trumpet shaped flowers 3-4″ long and 1-1/2″ wide that open in evening. Very free flowering. Fall sown seedlings make great pot plants for growing during the winter. A good Moon Garden subject as its flowers open at night and show up well in moonlight.

White Angel’s Trumpet-Excellent Moon Garden plant with large showy pure white trumpet shaped flowers up to 8″ long that open at night. Sometimes fragrant. Large spiny seedpods. One of the largest Angel’s Trumpet available.

South African Dimorphotheca- This is the famous flower from the flora of the South African countryside. Grows only 12″ tall with milky white blossoms so pure they appear to be luminous. Shows up very well at night under moonlight.

Pure White Spider Plant-A delightful spider plant that grows about 3 ft. tall. Very different, as it has pure white glistening flowers. Pre-chill seeds for about a week before sowing and they should germinate in about 2-3 weeks.

Pure White African Daisy- A fast growing African daisy growing to 10 inches with large, pure white flowers with black eyes. A slightly spreading plant.

White Dill- a beautiful plant growing to about 36 in. tall with clouds of white flowers often in clusters 6 in. or more across. Seeds need light to germinate. Seedlings will appear in about two weeks.

White Leafed Dusty Miller-
The foliage of this plant is very white and fine leafed. Good compact growth.
A different looking dusty miller that will stand out in your garden. Sow seeds on surface, germinates in about 2 weeks.

Pure White Salvia- Grows 10-12 inches with dark green foliage and pure white flowers. Very unusual and very early flowering.

Pure White Coneflower-A lovely pure white version of Echinacea purpurea that bears fragrant white coneflowers. Very nice cutflowers that show up well in the moonlight.

Snow White Carnation-Probably the whitest carnations you will ever see. An excellent cutflower, they also make wonderful bedding and border plants. Have spicy-sweet fragrance.

Feverfew-A Native American herb with sprays of 1″ single white daisy-like flowers. Yellow centers are flat. The flowers are said to repel bees and a tea made from the plant is said to relieve headaches.

Mayweed-A gorgeous plant with fern-like foliage and white daisy-like flowers.
The leaves make a relaxing bedtime tea.

Four O’Clocks-These are fragrant flowers that come in several colors. Their trumpet shape blooms open in the evening around four p.m. and close in the daylight.
Happy Planting!

Love And Light,

Rose Ariadne, Your Warm And Caring “Resident Witch In Charge”
